When I was working for an engineering company I went on some trips around the UK visiting other sites. Since doing my PhD I can go to different countries to work with other researchers or international conferences to tell people about my work.

Within my PhD I’ve been to Switzerland for 2 months to learn how to work with a specific type of machine. I’ve also been to conferences, but by some sort of coincidence, all the “international conferences” I’ve been to have been based in the UK!

Yes. I have been on many trips over the years, literally dozens around UK, some to Germany, many to different parts of USA.
They have been to try artificial legs on amputees, problem solving when people are having difficulties with their prestheses, to see manufacturing facilities, trade shows, to present scientific papers at medical conventions and many more.
