      Just pot luck for me. It happened that my plans for my PhD fell through due to funding people not getting on. And I was walking around Leeds University one afternoon and saw the Stand for the current department I am in.

      During my undergraduate my tutor was involved in optical engineering and he helped me realise that there are a lot more branches of engineering under the main departments

      Google. Talking to different people. A lot at uni (I studies bioscience engineering but there were still so many choices within that).
