Question: How does you job effect your life?

Good question! I mean compared to a lot of my friends who aren’t doing a PhD but are engineers, we all work 9-5 or about a 40 hour week. It more that sometimes I have to work at strange times of the day because of my experiments, and because unlike in a normal job it’s just me thinking about my particular project, so sometimes you end up thinking about your work all the time and being tempted to work all the time.
Having said that I have lots of stuff to do outside of work and so I’m very strict with myself, making sure I do enough of the PhD work while keeping up with my friends and going to Dodgeball training etc.
