I wanted to do something that could help people, and because I was interested in STEM subjects, it was a pretty natural choice to go into engineering, that way I could invent things that would have a good impact on the world.

when i was in school we got to visit a local company and play with pneumatics and robots. That was what introduced me to engineering.
Studying engineering at university opened my eyes to all the different branches of engineering which is how i got involved with bio/optical engineering.

I wanted the opportunity to do a mix of practical and theoretical work and engineering seemed a good fit. It combined the different subjects I was interested in at school too.
