I think an engineer is someone who invents, designs, builds, tests and analyses “something”. This can be a bridge, a computer programme, a medical device, a chemical, …

I like to see it as a “problem solver”. An engineer tries to apply his/her scientific knowledge to come up with useful tools or techniques to help people. For example: to design a better imaging machine help doctors detect disease earlier.

An engineer is someone who creatively and logically applies scientific principles to solve problems in the real world! this often involves designing, making, testing, analysing and breaking stuff

To me, an engineer is someone who solves problems, usually by building something or inventing things.
