About 2 years ago I did a summer research project and found it really interesting, so I decided to apply for my current job.

When I was at university my undergraduate tutor showed me around his labs and explained his research to me. Fortunately, I was able to do my final year project with him which lead me to this PhD.

I wasn’t quite sure I wanted to do a PhD but than found out that a more “technical” PhD was possible as well! When I found the project I’m currently doing, it really seemed interesting because it combined so many different fields: engineering, biology and physics and I really like working at the crossroads of different fields.

I had ambitions to be a design engineer during my apprenticeship, so many, many years ago, and to own my own business about 15 years ago.
However, you don’t know whether you actually like it , or whether it is just the idea of it you like, until you start doing it. Fortunately both have lived up to my expectations and more.
